A man was tragically found dead at a house in Wigan on Wednesday morning (August 9). Officers made the discovery after being called to a ‘concern for the welfare’ of a man on Fern Close, in Shevington.
Police and paramedics quickly attended the small residential street, at around 9am, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation to ‘establish the full circumstances’ surrounding the man’s death which is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’.

It is understood emergency services remained at the scene for a number of hours amid ongoing investigations along with forensics officers. Further details have not yet been disclosed by police.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Greater Manchester Police responded to a report regarding the concern for the welfare of a man at a property on Fern Close in Wigan at around 9am (Wednesday 9 August 2023).
“Sadly, a deceased man was found at the scene. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, which is unexplained, are ongoing currently.”
